Hi! I’m Jessica!

I’m an author, artist, and fully enthusiastic maker/baker/picture-taker of basically anything that sparks my curiosity or interest. Based in Austin, Texas, I move between painting, writing, and creating with a sense of play and wonder.

I am a firm believer that words create worlds and that imagination and creativity are at the heart of life.

I write playful, rhyme-filled children’s books, including Alligator Seder, Happy ’Roo Year, and Happy HanukKAT, each inspired by small, joyful moments, a deep love of language, and a very solid appreciation for a good pun. I am drawn to the quiet magic of rhythm, texture, sound, and ultimately just words and lines that feel really darn good to say out loud.

My artwork is a separate but equally intuitive practice, where I paint multi-layered pieces inspired by movement, natural forms, and shifting landscapes. I’m drawn to layering and atmosphere, building work that feels fluid, grounded, and quietly expressive while being open to interpretation.

I also channel my creative energy into my cottage bakery, where I make small-batch artisan treats rooted in intentionality, nostalgia, and the joy of sharing something handmade.

Ultimately, at the heart of it all is a desire to create work that feels honest, imaginative, joyful, & warmly human... even when my characters happen to be animals. ;)
